Five Ways to Drive Last-Minute Bookings
Last-minute bookings fill gaps in your calendar that would otherwise go empty. Here's how to capture more of them.
- Know who you're targeting. Last-minute bookers tend to be flexible, spontaneous, and price-aware. They're often making a decision within 48 hours of travel. Understanding that helps you write listings and set pricing that speaks to them directly.
- Keep your listings sharp. When someone is searching last-minute, they're scanning fast. Strong photos, an accurate description, and clear highlights of what makes your property worth booking right now are what convert a browse into a reservation.
- Use dynamic pricing. Static rates don't respond to the market. Dynamic pricing tools adjust your nightly rate based on demand, local events, and how close the dates are. In the days before an open window, a well-timed price drop can fill it.
- Automate your communication. Last-minute guests expect fast responses. Set up automated replies for common questions and make sure your messaging system can handle an enquiry at 10pm. Slow responses lose bookings.
- Offer flexible cancellation. Spontaneous travelers are more likely to book if they know they can cancel without a penalty. A flexible policy removes the hesitation that stops a last-minute booker from committing.
