Types of Guests and How to Handle Each One

Not all guests are the same, and knowing what to expect from each type helps you prepare your property and set the right house rules.

Business travelers

They need fast, reliable WiFi above everything else. A proper workspace, a desk, good lighting, a comfortable chair, is a real selling point. They tend to be low-maintenance and respectful of the space.

Couples

Generally quiet and easy. Depending on age and occasion, there may be some noise at night, but they rarely cause damage or problems.

Families with children (and pets)

Kids are energetic and accidents happen. Check the property carefully after checkout and make sure your deposit covers minor damage. If you allow pets, be clear about where they can go and what's expected of the owner.

Groups of friends

This is where you need to be most careful. A group celebrating something can turn into a noise complaint or worse. Set clear rules upfront, consider a higher deposit, and make sure your neighbors know how to reach you if something comes up.
