Post-Covid Travel: What to Expect
Travel didn't disappear after Covid-19. It changed. Here's what the new shape of travel in Mexico looked like as restrictions began to ease.
More local travel
The first wave of movement happened by road. Buses, vans, and private cars gave people a way to explore the country without airports or crowded terminals.
More space, fewer people
Airlines reconfigured seating. Buses ran with fewer passengers. The same logic applied to beaches, parks, cinemas, and restaurants: capacity limits became the norm.
Museums by appointment
To avoid crowding, many cultural venues moved to timed entry. Extended hours helped spread visitors across the day.
Face masks became standard
The WHO confirmed masks would be required until a vaccine was widely available. They became part of the travel kit alongside a passport and sunscreen.
Vaccination certificates for international travel
Proof of vaccination became a requirement for crossing borders. Travelers needed to plan ahead and carry documentation.
The core of travel, seeing new places, meeting people, stepping away from routine, stayed the same. The logistics just required a bit more preparation.
