How to Get Over a Breakup
There's no shortcut through it, but there are things that help.
Give yourself time
The urge to fast-forward past the hard part is understandable, but grief needs to run its course. Trying to skip it usually just delays it.
Stay off their social media
Checking in on what they're doing keeps you stuck. Mute or unfollow, at least for a while.
Get out of the house
Movement helps. A walk, a workout, a trip somewhere new. Playa del Carmen is a good place to reset — the beach has a way of putting things in perspective.
Talk to people you trust
Not to analyze the relationship endlessly, but to stay connected. Isolation makes everything worse.
Focus on what's next
Not immediately, but eventually. A new project, a trip you've been putting off, a skill you've wanted to learn. Forward motion is the best medicine.
