Most people picture beaches and heat when they think of Mexico, but the country has mountain ranges that see real snowfall every winter. Here are the places worth knowing.
Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl
These twin volcanoes near Mexico City are snow-capped for much of the year. Iztaccihuatl is a popular climb for experienced mountaineers.
Pico de Orizaba
The highest peak in Mexico at 5,636 meters. Snow is permanent at the summit and the surrounding slopes see heavy snowfall in winter.
Sierra Tarahumara, Chihuahua
The Copper Canyon region gets significant snowfall between December and February. The Chepe train through the canyon is one of the most scenic rail journeys in North America.
Tlaxcala and Puebla Highlands
